Bed casting

The bed casting can be selected as either lost foam or wood mold according to customer needs and quantity.For less than 10 pieces,it is recommended to use lost foam casting.The selection of a qualified machine tool bed casting is a fundamental condition for the manufacture of the entire machine tool,as it is an important component of the bed casting.

The bed castings are mostly large castings.Due to the continuous improvement of machine tools in recent years,the current weight of machine tool castings is mostly between 1 ton and 30 tons.

The commonly used casting method for bed castings is sand casting,followed by special casting methods such as metal casting,investment casting,gypsum casting,etc.

The characteristics of bed castings:

(1)Good seismic resistance.Due to the advantage of graphite in cast iron for lubrication and oil storage,it is beneficial.Similarly,due to the presence of graphite,the seismic resistance of gray cast iron is better than that of steel.

(2)Good process performance.Due to its high carbon content and close to eutectic composition,gray cast iron has a relatively low melting point,good fluidity,and low shrinkage rate,making it suitable for casting structurally complex or thin-walled castings.In addition,due to the tendency of graphite to form chips during cutting,the machinability of gray cast iron is better than that of steel.
